You need to login and activate your business listing before it will show in the online business directory.

How can I edit my business listing?

You need to sign in using your email address (username) and password.

Once you have logged in, you will be automatically directed to the screen where you can edit your business contact details, description and opening hours as well as add images.

Any tips for writing my business description?

Your business description should tell people what your business or organisation does. Well-written and meaningful descriptions will help to drive traffic to your business page.

Here are some tips to help:

  • Longer descriptions are better. As a rule of thumb, aim for around 150 words.
  • Try to include keywords that users would associate with your products or services.
  • Do not copy and paste large chunks of copy from your website to create your business description as this will not help your online presence. It is much better to make your description unique and tailor it to appeal to people who may be unfamiliar with your business and the Top of the Town.
Can I add photos to my business listing?

Yes, you can add good quality photos to your business listing.

Your photos must be:

  • in .jpg, .png or .gif format
  • at least 700 pixels in size
(larger photos will be automatically resized to fit)
  • in landscape format if possible.
What sort of photos can I upload?

You can upload:

  • interior and exterior photos of your Top of the Town premises
  • product photos
  • photos of work you have completed
  • photos that illustrate the services you provide

You must not upload:

  • Stock photos or clipart
  • Photos that you do not own or have the rights to use
  • Inappropriate or offensive images

We reserve the right to remove any photos that we deem unsuitable for the Top of the Town website.

How do I get my business to show on the map?

You need to provide the latitude and longitude for your business or organisation premises. There are lots of websites that can help you to find out your map coordinates - try Googling 'find lat long'.

Latitude and longitude need to be entered in decimal format.

For example, here are the coordinates for The Willis Museum in the Top of the Town, Basingstoke:

  • Latitude: 51.262678
  • Longitude: -1.087030

The latitude and longitude for your business or organisation should look similar to the above.

I don't want to show my business location on the map. How can I hide it?

All you need to do is login to the Top of the Town website and remove the latitude and longitude for your business and the map will disappear.

Can you make changes to my business listing for me?

No. To prevent any unauthorised changes to your listing, we will not accept requests to update business details. You need to login to update your business listing.

If you have forgotten your password, you can reset it by clicking on the 'Forgotten password' link on the login screen.

How long will it take for changes I make to appear?

Click 'Save' as soon as you have finished editing your business listing and the changes will appear immediately.
